Northwest Vision and Media is delighted to welcome Andy Ross to Manchester on the 14th July to lead a fantastic session on writing for short film. This session will be extremely useful for any writers considering applying for either Green Shoots or the Digital Shorts Scheme later in the year and for emerging film writers generally . Andy will analyze and investigate all elements of writing for short film from genre and story through to plotting devices and short film convention.

More on Andy Ross:

A Royal Television Society award winning writer/director, Andy started his career at the Hollywood studio Columbia Tristar where he was close to the production of blockbusters Jerry Maguire, Men in Black and Godzilla. Applying these skills to forging a career in the UK industry, Andy has since written and directed work for the New Cinema Fund, ITV1 and the Arts Council. In 2003, Andy turned  his attention to developing new writers through his own self devised Advanced Screenwriting program at the University of Teesside. Endorsed by Northern Film and Media, and running in tandem with Skillset’s Philip Parker courses, the program developed over ten commissioned pieces in its first year alone, with graduates since going on to win international awards and feature script funding.

This event is principally for writers and writer/directors although aspiring creative producers may also wish to attend.

This event is only available for people resident in the Northwest. Students may come but it will be most appropriate for those close to graduation as Northwest Vision and Media is unable to fund individuals in full time education and so students are not eligible to apply to our schemes and initiatives.

This event is separate from the Film Networking Evening which takes place in the same venue from 20.00. However, if you register to attend the Film Networking Evening then you will also need to register separately for What Makes A Good Short Film.

We anticipate this event will fill up quickly and places are limited so please let us know if you plan to attend by the 9th July at the very latest. We will keep a reserve list but cannot guarantee you will be added to this list if we receive your interest after this date.

If you require disabled access then please let us know so we can communicate this to the venue with plenty of time.
